1 in 65 million: education and career choices
A practical guide to poor-family starts, school costs, career requirements and health tradeoffs.
Start with your budget and route
This guide covers the ordinary Thai-life route, checked on 28 October 2026. The magic-school branch uses different career and ending rules. Read the beginner guide first if you have not created a character.
Check funds, debt, H (health), J (happiness), S (skills) and C (connections). The current game presents scene-by-scene decisions; it does not use the old worldwide edition’s annual-focus buttons.
School costs: compare like with like
| Ordinary school option | Base upfront cost in the current menu | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Local school | ฿0 | The description still includes uniform expenses; zero upfront tuition does not mean no living costs |
| Prestigious state school | ฿150,000 when admitted | Admission is checked; failing the ordinary exam leads to local school without this tuition charge |
| Private school | ฿600,000 | Requires the funds or borrowing conditions shown by the game |
| International school | ฿3,000,000 | High initial cost; later results remain uncertain |
These are game figures for the school period, not a real Thai school-price survey. Additional activities cost extra. Read the option’s actual terms before accepting debt.

English-interface screenshots from a local preview on 28 October 2026. This sample starts in Lopburi with ฿30,000; by the school choice, the displayed funds are ฿52,500. Read the current funds and each option’s conditions rather than carrying the birth amount forward unchanged. Your random background and available choices may differ. Poor-family start: study or work?
There is no single winning order. Compare the cost of continued study, its admission conditions and which careers it can unlock with the work routes available now. A degree can unlock office or civil-service paths, but fees reduce resources and admissions can fail. Working avoids that particular study cost; it does not eliminate family obligations or later risks.
A useful decision sequence is: identify the desired career, read its requirement, check the affordable study route, then compare what remains for living costs and debt. Keep health and happiness in view.
Career requirements and base income
| Career | Key entry conditions | Base start / month | Base entry cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Factory work | No degree required by the base career | ฿11,000 | ฿0 |
| Office work | Degree required | ฿22,000 | ฿0 |
| Civil service | Degree and successful entry exam | ฿18,000 | ฿20,000 |
| Police | Police-academy degree and police qualification | ฿20,000 | ฿0 |
| Athlete | Qualified sports route, H at least 45, age no more than 30 | ฿25,000 | ฿30,000 |
| Business | Entry funds; an earned waiver can remove the base cost | ฿20,000 | ฿500,000 |
These are base configuration values, not guaranteed take-home income. Qualifications, previous events, age, restrictions and later outcomes can change availability or earnings. Other careers exist; this table is a starting comparison, not a ranking.
Three worked situations
Limited school funds. With ฿100,000 available, private school’s ฿600,000 base cost exceeds the budget by ฿500,000. Local school avoids that upfront tuition. This arithmetic does not model any additional borrowing or living costs.
An athlete whose H is 44. Even with the sports qualification, the current entry check requires H of at least 45. The listed starting salary is irrelevant until the character meets the entry conditions. An event that raises health may help only if other requirements still hold.
A parent deciding on overtime. If the offered action raises income but reduces H or J, compare the immediate shortfall with the character’s existing health and happiness. Taking it repeatedly is not a guarantee of a better ending; average wellbeing also contributes to the ordinary score.
These are rule-based examples, not claimed playthrough results or promised strategies.
Why can a careful character still die early?
Illness, injury and accidents can have their own checks. Health matters, but no route guarantees a lifespan. Review the timeline instead of attributing the entire ending to one decision. Rules and randomness · Ending scores.
