Attributes, randomness and game rules
Understand birth weights, health, karma and simulated scores without confusing them with real-world statistics.

What determines your starting point?
The game uses built-in province weights and region-specific family-background weights. Family resources, initial attributes and debt differ between backgrounds. These are authored game inputs, not a live census or a prediction about an individual. The title “1 in 65 million” is not the probability of every outcome.
What is random, and what can I influence?
Birth background, some admissions, career outcomes and life events use random draws. Your attributes, previous choices, qualifications and family can change eligibility or probabilities. A displayed requirement is different from a guaranteed outcome: meeting it may only allow an attempt.
Your saved character records its choices for replay. Reopening the same save is meant to continue the same story, not reroll every earlier event. Creating another character starts a separate life.
Health, skills, happiness and connections
H is health, J is happiness, S is skills and C is connections. Skills and connections contribute to some checks; health can be reduced by illness, injury and costly decisions. Ordinary-route health reaching zero can end a life, and some events have their own death checks. A high health value does not make the character immune to accidents.
Values shown beside an action describe its direct effects. Later totals can include aging, ongoing costs and other events. See practical choices.
How karma affects a life
Karma and recorded deeds are part of the fictional rules. Some deeds have immediate costs; others appear again in the ending ledger. Certain consequences are probabilistic, so a recorded deed need not trigger the same outcome in every life. Ending consequences may affect the estate, reputation, family and score.
On rebirth, positive or negative karma adjusts some family-background weights. It does not guarantee a rich or poor life. Inheritance and rebirth.
What are scores and percentiles compared with?
The ordinary ending score combines average happiness and health, a wealth score, karma, connections and eligible bonuses or penalties. The wealth score comes from a built-in curve. The overall percentile compares a score with computer-simulated lives, not verified real people or all players. Worked score explanation.
The fantasy magic-school route uses its own progression and ending rules. Do not apply the ordinary-life score formula to it.
