Police career guide: evidence, promotions and moral choices
Qualify as a police officer, investigate suspects and understand the consequences of your decisions.

Qualify before choosing the career
The ordinary-life police career requires a police-academy degree and the police qualification. A general degree alone is not enough. Read the admission conditions when choosing further education, then select the police career when eligible. Use a new character for the complete current route.
The first envelope sets a direction
At the first major choice, return the envelope to start as an honest officer or accept it to join the corrupt network. The honest path includes normal pay and ฿18,000 in annual out-of-pocket field costs. The corrupt path starts with ฿400,000 and can pay annual kickbacks, while increasing exposure and obligations.
Later choices still matter. Taking a payoff in a case can pull an honest character into corruption. Leaving the network or retiring does not instantly erase previous evidence.
How to solve a case
The current case pool has five honest-path and four corrupt-path templates. Each case presents three suspects with generated characteristics. Your job is to compare those characteristics against the evidence, not memorize a name from a previous playthrough.
- Read all three profiles before selecting a lead.
- Prioritize leads that separate the remaining candidates.
- Use the investigation budget carefully. High skill or certain earlier experiences can add a lead; the corrupt network also supplies an extra opportunity.
- After the free inquiries, an additional urgent check can cost ฿15,000.
- Accuse someone only after comparing the findings. Leaving a case unresolved is also an option, with its own consequences.
A correct answer is not the last decision
When an influential suspect is identified, the honest route may offer prosecution, public disclosure or a bribe to weaken the case. On the corrupt route, you may hand someone to the network, extort them or warn them. These choices affect money, relationships, exposure and responsibility.
Wrong accusations have concrete penalties: compensation, a demotion where possible, a 15% salary reduction for three years, a pause in promotion eligibility and a chance of dismissal. Repeated mistakes increase disciplinary risk. Dismissal can also remove pension rights.
Promotion and the corrections branch
There are six police grades, with service requirements and an assessment. You can apply on merit, spend time and money preparing, or seek corrupt influence. None makes every assessment certain, and higher grades are harder to reach. A corrections branch has its own posts and prison stories.
A useful approach is to develop investigative skill early, keep enough cash for fieldwork and checks, and read the full outcome after a case. Solved cases help your record; a larger bank balance alone does not describe a successful police life.
